  • The profile of the lubricating oil hole and radius fillet should be checked visually. There should not be any loss of the original profile.
  • The hardness test and the crack detection test by MPI or dye penetrant are not required till the major failure of the bearing or accident takes place.

The onsite crankshaft repair and grinding is undertaken by RA Power Solutions’ experienced technicians for diameters ranging from 30 mm to 700 mm, which covers almost all the crankshafts used for different applications. It is generally observed that due to non-experience or lack of knowledge of the companies undertaking crankshaft reconditioning and Onsite Crankshaft Machining, Crankshaft misguides the end user, resulting in serious breakdown and considerably higher expense.

RA Power Solutions has undertaken the reconditioning of crankshafts exceeding ten thousand numbers and recommends the following situation for the reconditioning of the crankshaft.

Recommendation for reconditioning of Crankshaft:

I) It is recommended to undertake crankshaft repair in case taper and ovality exceed the limit specified in the maintenance manual of the engine manufacturer.
II)  In case of an accident, deep line marks or depression are developed.
III) Reconditioning of the crankshaft is recommended in case higher hardness is observed due to the seizure of bearings or any other reason.
IV) Development of surface crack.
V) Loss of alignment.
VI) In certain cases, although the dimensions of the CR Pin and Main Journal are observed within the limit, due to the rough surface observed on the CR Pin and of the Main Journal, the surface requires polishing.
