  • All the readings and observations are recorded in the inspection format, and onsite repair planning is done in consultation with our senior Engineer.

  • After inspection, grinding, and repair of the crankshaft, the following parameters are achieved:
    1. Taper and ovality of the crankpin and main journal after grinding and polishing can be achieved within 0.02 mm.
    2. The lubrication oil hole and radius fillet profile can be given as per the original profile.
    3. The presence of crack and hardness readings are taken and recorded.
    4. Straightness and run-out are maintained as per the manufacturer’s specifications. A surface finish of less than 20 RA values can be maintained and achieved.

Crankshaft Grinding Executed on Board a Vessel – RA Power Solutions

RA Power Solutions has executed successfully the crankshaft grinding of 6 pins on board a vessel at Dumai/Lubuk Gaung Port, Indonesia of MAN B&W STX 6L23/30H Engine.

In this case, crankshaft grinding was required because all the CR pins having a standard diameter of 185 mm developed taper and ovality. Out of 6 CR pins, not even a single pin was seized or crack was developed.
