The following procedure is adopted for successful repair of the crankshaft:

Calibrated and modern instruments are used to undertake preliminary inspection of the crankshaft as follows:
1. Dimensional inspection to check taper and ovality
2. Crack detection by MPI/ultrasound or dye penetrant
3. Hardness test
4. Surface test to check surface roughness
5. Inspection to check the straightness of the crankshaft
6. Lube oil and radius fillet profile check
7. Visual inspection
